AELEX Annual Lecture
The AELEX Annual Lecture series was inaugurated in 2005 to commemorate the merger of four firms to form AELEX on 1st July 2004. The Lecture series have become a regular feature of the Nigeria calendar because of the topical issues selected, boosted by the calibre of speakers and their distinguished audience.
As an outreach to society, the Annual Lecture continues to contribute to the public pool of ideas and solution to issues, which are not necessarily confined to law. Over the years, the following distinguished speakers have spoken to a wide audience on very topical issues:
- 2005: Professor Don Wallace
(Chairman International Law Institute, Washington, DC) Topic: “The Regulator in a Deregulated Economy”
- 2006: Professor Frederic Jenny
(Judge, French Supreme Court, Chairman, Committee on Competition Law and Policy, OECD, Paris) Topic: “Competition Policy as an Engine for Economic Growth”
- 2007: Judge Mervyn King S.C
(Chairman, King Committee on Corporate Governance, South Africa) Topic: “Corporate Governance: Who profits?”
- 2008: Mr. Dele Olojede
(Chairman, Timbuktu Media and Pulitzer Price Winner for 2005) Topic: “Freedom of information: Balancing the Public’s rights to know against the individual’s right to privacy”
- 2009: Hon. Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei
(The Honourable Minister of Energy, Ghana) Topis: “How Ghana Kept the Lights On”
