Profile Soji commenced his career as a public prosecutor before developing an active civil litigation practice. Was managing partner of Nigeria's oldest law firm from 1985 - 1993. He concentrated on project finance, oil and gas, investment and securities, environmental and company law. 1993 he established Messrs Victor & Charles (Solicitors). Over the last 20 years he has either managed or directly participated in most of the major FDI transactions in the Nigerian electric power and petroleum sectors. These include financings and other projects such as the Mobil OSO Field Condensate Development Project, the Mobil Independent Power Plant Project, the ENRON Emergency Power Plant Project, the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) Project, several marginal field transactions (farm - ins and farm - outs, Joint Operating Agreements, Joint Venture and Operating Agreements).
Soji has come to be respected by local and international investors, financial institutions, bank and non-bank financial institutions, project owners developers and contractors for his experience in transactional matters.
A pioneer practitioner of environmental law in Nigeria, has been active over the last ten years in developing the legal, regulatory and policy framework for Nigeria and was largely responsible for the formation of the Nigerian Environmental Law Society. He is an international consultant to the UNDP on the environment. Has consulted for the Nigerian Ministry of Solid Minerals Development on a legal and regulatory framework for minerals development. Consultant to National Forum for Sustainable Development. Was on Technical Working Group of World Bank assisted project on development of Law on Response, Compensation and Liability for Environmental Damage in Nigeria. Member Revision Team on National Environmental policy, drafted National Agenda 21. Elected to Steering Committee of National Association of Environmental Consultants. Was a facilitator at US Eximbank capacity building services for West Africa in Project Finance Law. Soji was a national delegate appointed by the president of Nigeria to understudy the American lobby system.
