Our Energy and Natural Resources Practice is focused on matters relating to hydrocarbon exploration production as well as mineral resources exploitation. Power project development is a growing area of our practice.
Our expertise covers the legal, regulatory and policy issues relevant to the oil, gas, electricity, water and mining sectors as well as the commercial, fiscal and environmental matters arising in project development.
We advise on virtually all aspects of the acquisition of oil and gas assets and mining properties, the development, supply, transportation and distribution of oil, natural gas and electricity.
A Partner in the firm was for several years a consultant to the Federal Government of Nigeria in respect of the restructuring of the mining sector. In addition to his contributions to the development of new sector policy, he was the draftsman of the Mineral and Mining Bill presented by the executive to the legislature in year 2005.
Our mining team is assisting a rapidly developing clientele in respect of matters relating to entry into the sector and cooperative arrangements with interest holders.
We are conversant with the administrative procedures relating to the development of projects in the energy and natural resources sectors. We also have a solid knowledge of the international financial arena, particularly the attitude and current practices of multi-lateral finance agencies and financial markets with respect to energy and natural resource projects around the world and to Nigeria in particular.
We interact with key players operating in these sectors and are therefore able to provide value- added support to the investor-side of projects.
Having been involved in the drafting of the legal framework for these sectors, we are positioned to structure our advice to projects in anticipation of and consistent with changes in policy and regulation.
Our appreciation of financial models and technical issues provides us with the tools to undertake high level reviews and render advice on project development matters.
