Environment

Environmental laws at the federal, state and local levels are beginning to have a greater impact on business. More businesses are becoming subject to governmental regulation, which potentially could result in administrative, civil or criminal sanctions and substantial financial exposure.

AELEX has provided high profile support to and been engaged to provide the legal component in several landmark environment matters. Members of our environmental practice have contributed to the development of various pre-legislation study groups, at which we have made widely acknowledged input in the making of broad ranging environmental polices, laws and guidelines.

Members of the AELEX environment practice are involved with groups such as the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association (UKELA) and the Nigerian Environmental Law Society (NELS).

The head of our environment practice is the pioneer of environmental law practice in Nigeria and has for over a decade developed a substantial environmental law practice. He is the founder and the president of NELS, a member of the National Association of Environmental Consultants and has several publications to his credit.
