Some key highlights from the panels discussion that need to consider leveraging the available legal infrastructure to foster trade and effective participation of State parties. These are;
- State Parties should settle their trade priorities, alongside the RECs’ choices.
- State Parties need to create awareness and understanding of the rules of play of the AfCFTA.
- State Parties must prepare to meet their obligations under the agreement by harmonization of trading laws, professional qualifications and services, rules, regulations, and trading practices.
- The no-go areas of each country’s economy in line with the provisions of the agreement should be clearly demarcated.
- State Parties are at liberty to assert their Sovereignty, in so far as it does not conflict with their obligation under the agreement.
- Adjudicatory bodies of State Parties should prepare to uphold and enforce the right of non-nationals (foreigners).
