Perenami is a Partner in AELEX’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group. She is regularly involved in high stakes, commercial disputes resolution before arbitral tribunals and superior courts. She is currently leading the team handling a portfolio of matters arising out of the privatisation & bid process, ownership and title of one of Nigeria’s major enterprises. She led a team that successfully represented an exploration and production company in an arbitration pertaining to assignment of interest and cost recovery in a marginal field to the tune of about US$40 million. She is also part of the team representing an investment and asset company in litigation and arbitration pertaining to capital market disputes before arbitral tribunals, the Securities and Exchange Commission and at the Supreme Court.
Perenami has been described by IFLR1000 interviewees as “competent in building an effective strategy to protect the interests of the client, experienced negotiator, out of the box and quick thinker, excellent communicative skills, very energetic.”

Mrs ‘Funke Adekoya SAN is a partner at ǼLEX, a commercial law firm operating in Lagos, Nigeria where she heads the Dispute Resolution practice group.

In addition to her holding the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria [SAN], she is a Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She regularly sits as an arbitrator and appears as counsel in institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings both in international and domestic disputes and has over 45 years of experience in commercial litigation and corporate dispute resolution.

Among many other international appointments, she is a member of the Governing Board of ICCA [International Council for Commercial Arbitration] and a trustee of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration.

Dr Johanne Cox is a Partner in the London office of Shoosmiths and leads the international arbitration practice. Alongside counsel work, Johanne sits as an arbitrator and has been appointed Chairperson, Sole Arbitrator and Co-Arbitrator. Johanne has 20 years’ experience in international arbitration and represents clients on arbitrations across regions and on various types of disputes including construction, energy, technology, corporate and finance. Johanne worked and practiced in Africa and the Middle East from 2010-2020 – in Egypt, the UAE and Qatar – and, before this, at leading international law firms in London. In addition to handling commercial arbitrations, Johanne is a leading expert in investment law and investment treaty arbitration. She holds a doctorate in international law and has represented both foreign investors and states in investment treaty disputes concerning large-scale infrastructure and energy projects. Her book, Expropriation in Investment Treaty Arbitration (2019), is a global publication.

“Sara Marzal joined ICSID in July 2015 as Legal Counsel in one of the Case Management Teams. In this capacity, she serves as Secretary of tribunals and ad hoc committees in arbitration and annulment proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention, the ICSID Additional Facility Rules and the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules relating to a variety of sectors including natural resources and infrastructure; provides advice on complex procedural and substantive issues under public international law and international treaties; assists the Secretary-General in numerous institutional projects and regularly gives lectures on ICSID arbitration and procedures.
Prior to joining ICSID, she worked as an attorney with the law firms of Clifford Chance US LLP, Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Arnold & Porter LLP, in Washington, D.C., and in Uría Menendez, in Spain. She also worked as a consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank’s International Trade and Integration Sector and clerked at the World Trade Organization Appellate Body Secretariat.
Ms. Marzal holds degrees from Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M.) and ESADE (LL.M. and Law Degree). She is admitted to practice law in Spain and in the State of New York.
Ms. Marzal speaks Spanish, English, French and Catalan.”
